As the vista clears, and the chaos of the Gem Visions 2010 theme recedes, the world of luxury will be a very different place, with new attitudes, horizons and business models that integrate principles of sustainability and social responsibility. Gem Visions joins the mission to fuse local crafts and culture with a global outlook, continues its love affair with nature, and celebrates a new cult of powerful femininity and with it a fresh focus on instinct, dreams and creativity. After the extravagant excesses of recent years, a new serenity settles over design, giving consumers room to breathe and designers a calm space in which to create radical transformations. Overall, a sense of soul takes over from the dictatorship of status. And perhaps more than ever, the possibilities for gemstones are endless.

PURE LIGHT
A touch of brilliance, this theme focuses on the sheer radiance and purity of white zirconia, topaz, sapphire, diamond, and jewels that scintillate with white light rather than with colour. Infinite reflections mirror the soul, bringing peace, harmony and serenity to design. Pure Light marks a renewed appreciation of the timeless appeal of colourless stones, as

PURE LIGHT
A touch of brilliance, this theme focuses on the sheer radiance and purity of white zirconia, topaz, sapphire, diamond, and jewels that scintillate with white light rather than with colour. Infinite reflections mirror the soul, bringing peace, harmony and serenity to design. Pure Light marks a renewed appreciation of the timeless appeal of colourless stones, as
a reprieve from the onslaught of colour over the past few years. The theme embraces the colour spectrum of pure white light, playing on reflections and refractions. Key concepts are Bare, Caress, Gold, Healing, Built, Space, Vintech and Optical.
REFERENCE
Powerfully modernist with meaning, relevance and connectivity, this theme nurtures bold, urban, statement jewels for the ultimate, confident self-expression. The concept of classicism is rejuvenated through aristocratic, architectural abstraction, touched by strong sensuality, pointing to a new, powerful femininity. This theme introduces strong, barrier-

Both influence the Western world and at the same time develop their own microclimate of themes and mixed inspirations, ranging from Bollywood extravaganzas, exquisite Mughal art and craftsmanship, through the splendour of 1920s Shanghai, to
DREAMSTORMING
This trend looks at the global phenomenon of the two massive emerging markets, China and India. Both influence the Western world and at the same time develop their own microclimate of themes and mixed inspirations, ranging from Bollywood extravaganzas, exquisite Mughal art and craftsmanship, through the splendour of 1920s Shanghai, to
concepts of love and rebirth. Asian traditions are fused with Western style, underpinned with a quest to create future ancestral jewels. Colours encompass a range of tarnished tones of splendour and richness, deep hot pinks, golden ochres, saffrons and purples of India, tinged with earthy copper, sand and dust, and various shades of Chinese Jade, with touches of sea green and kingfisher blue. Key concepts are Bollywood, Mughal, Roots, Handicraft, Rebirth, Patriotic, Extravaganza and Love.
